- TeX이 식자를 하기 위해서 필요로 하는 최소한이 정보를 담고 있는 글꼴 정보 파일로 글자 박스에 대한 폭, 높이, 깊이에 대한 정보를 포함한다.
- TeX은 결국 TFM만 있으면 된다.
